journalism final

Make-up was first invented in Egypt around 4000 B.C. . It was first created to protect the wearers’ facial features and also to improve their appearance “dramatically”.  Human cosmetics had been around for as many as 6000 years.  Many believed that woman wore make-up just as a ritual in their human culture.  Over time it developed more as a necessity in the appearance of women and their everyday life.  In the beginning of the twentieth century, make-up began to become more popular  in the united states and Europe.  Owing most of the influence to the ballet and theatres of the Arts, once women began seeing celebrities wearing make-up to enhance their appearance, most women felt as though they should wear it also. Make-up became an optional way for women to alter their appearance to bring out their natural beauty.
After the earlier twentieth century the cosmetics epidemic blew up immediately.  More and more products began developing and it created a money thirsty industry.  Make-up companies began creating advertisements and commercials telling women that if they did not wear make-up they were not true women.  Some young teens and women feel today that if they do not participate in wearing make-up that they are not appealing to the human eye.  Many girls also feel that by wearing heavier make-up you are covering up your natural beauty.
When younger females are asked how they feel when they wear make-up they say that they personally feel more confident in their appearance.  However not every young teenage girl believes in wearing make-up.  Some girls say that make up when used carefully is a way to enhance a females natural features, but when done incorrectly could do the absolute opposite.  Reasons why some females feel as though they look better with make-up is that they are able to disguise their imperfections.  Some girls begin wearing make up to soon.  Students when surveyed regarding what age would be appropriate to start wearing make-up , answered eighth grade or even freshman year.  The average age for a girl to start wearing make-up in today’s generation is eleven to twelve years old.
Although I did not start wearing make-up until I was 13, it was still an extremely young age.  Like many young teens I obviously did not know how to apply make up properly.  Basically I did more harm than good.  I looked like a raccoon!  After a couple months of my awful make-up habits my mother finally brought me to a make-up counter in a professional store to show me how to apply make- up correctly and age appropriately.  Many girls when surveyed believe that many young females need to learn the appropriate ways to apply make-up and how it could look if not done correctly .A lot girls say that when too much make-up is applied to the face, you could achieve a “cake” like appearance which just entails that the make-up looks extremely heavy.
Make-up for some females is a way for them to feel more confident in their appearance and are able to bring out their natural beauty and camouflage their imperfections.  Although, some students, when interviewed expressed how some females go too far with their make-up and how much that they apply.  One student when interviewed explained , “Girls who do wear make-up in high school and middle school just want to make it an obvious conclusion that they are wearing more make-up than they need to just to make it appear obvious that they are wearing make-up.”   Another student added and said, “ Make-up doesn’t give you “super powers” it is just supposed to enhance what you’ve got.”
Some girls at a young age become too eager to wear make-up, although the older you get your “bag of tricks” always seem to get a bit bigger.  For myself I enjoy make-up and can almost look to it as a hobby.  Researching what make-up brands are the best but also the cheapest and reviewing them online.  I also believe that it’s a females own opinion how much make-up that they should wear.  Some days I wear a lot and some days I wear very little. It all depends upon persons’ style and basically what they are into.
After becoming more interested in the subject of cosmetology, I began doing my friends make-up for fun and buying different styles of make-up that looked good on me and others.  After doing this for a while I began learning how to properly apply make-up.
Many teenage girls like myself look to celebrities for inspirational make-up looks.   Celebrities wear a lot more make-up than the average teenage girl so many younger girls beginning to wear make-up with compare themselves to what celebrities look like and how they were their make-up and hair. As teenagers develop their own styles as they become older, they will figure out what make-up styles look best and they will continue with their own personal styles.  I find that using the looks of celebrities and tweaking it to fit my own style is what works best for me.

Make-up is a way for women of any age to feel beautiful in their own way no matter how that they wear. The amount of make-up a female wears will slowly develop into their own unique style as they progressively get older.  Once a female knows how to apply their make-up properly they will have their own make-up routine in which they will follow almost every day.  Make-up is a way for a female to feel unique and have their own individuality.

Pet Peeves

  1.  Being late-  when people are late to appointments social gatherings or their sports it is literally my biggest pet peeve. Why would you waste the time of other humans and say you will arrive at a certain place when you really won't be. It is a waste of other peoples time and disrespectful.
  2. 2.       Touching my face - Is my face your face? I do not see the appeal in touching other humans faces . you don't know where your hands have been why do you have to grab my face and rub and also touch like no that is crossing a person line.
    3.       Talking to me like I am 5 years old-  When people talk down to me just being I am younger than them truly bothers me.  I am a young adult I can handle a mature conversation and granted I am young I don’t know everything but I would appreciate to withhold the same respect as an adult.
    4.       Throwing up- why is throwing up even a thing like why does the human body do that.  It really just ruins lives.
    5.       When people constantly change songs/radio station- please settle on a song. Please don’t change the song or radio station every 5 seconds of a song.
    6.       Wicked loud music while driving- I truly can not stand when people blast their music so obnoxiously loud when driving, especially in my car.  It really gives me anxiety when driving and I can’t focus on the road.
    7.       Chief Keef’s music- chief keef Is an absolutely awful rapper that all the hoodlums of Norton listen to. You can’t even understand a single word he is saying and is such a stupid bum that shouldn’t be rich or famous.
    8.       People who need constant attention- we get it people need to be the center of attention all the time and if not they are miserable humans to be around. There is more to life than you and what you think.
    9.       Fake people- high school is where you discover your true friends and the people who pretend to be your friend. If you don’t like me don’t pretend to.
    10.   Girls- girls are literally so mean and rude to each other for absolutely  no reason and its absolutely sickening.

School/Summer Schedule

After completing few readings and research, if many students had the   opportunity to change the hours and time span of their school days and years they would.  If I were to have the opportunity to change a few details regarding our academic schedule, it would be that we would remove a school week vacation during the year and add an extention to the summer break.  Also another change I would take regarding school hours would be the necessary academic classes you need to take.  I personally feel as to though students should have he opportunities to choose the classes they would be interested in for college instead of being out into classes that the students are not interested in and would most likely be unsuccessful. I would not change the hours of the school day however, but I do feel as though students should have a free period during the school day to have the opportunities to work on projects with classmates or for students who need assistance with teachers but are unable to stay after school due to working or taking care f their siblings. I feel as though if our school systems changed a few things slightly, that we would have more success in some students and better attitudes in reaching tier academic goals.

Holiday Season Expenses

After reviewing specific sets of data regarding Americans holiday spending, the holidays is the most expensive time of year.  Every year Americans dish out millions of dollars combined on Christmas gifts for their family and friends.  Although it may be ridiculous to some, each year Americans spend almost 300 million dollars during the holiday season.  I do not feel as though people spent too much or too little it’s all in their specific financial preference.  I personally believe that Christmas and the holiday season should not be all about delivering and receiving gifts it is about the time that is spent with your family and loved ones. Although for others it is unfortunately about the materialistic items and belongings. I would personally rather just have my family around enjoying everyone’s company.  Some people believe all that Christmas is about is buying their loved ones gifts and spending hundreds of dollars just to prove how much they love and care for each other.  Some people also celebrate the holidays in many different ways.  Some may believe in different religions and celebrate according to their religious beliefs but others may celebrate traditionally with the Christmas tree and Santa Clause. Money is a huge part in a successful holiday season but regardless of the money and how much is spent, it should be about spending time with your friends and family.

"Bangerz" Album Review

As Miley Cyrus transformed into one of the most controversial pop stars of her generation, her new album "Bangerz" was exactly the representation she was trying to achieve.  Cyrus makes it clear that she is trying to demolish her squeaky clean Disney Channel image.  After teaming up with the most up to date producers in the business, Pharrel, Mike Will Made It, and also Juicy J, allowed for Cyrus to make a dramatic departure from her "Hannah Montana" image.  Miley Cyrus originally made this album to prove to the world and her fans she is more than what Disney Channel to make her out to be.  As Cyrus describes it as a "strategic hot mess."The album does not fall into a particular genre due to the versatility the album withholds. The Album is a sense of expression for Cyrus as it is for many of her fans.  Although some may questions Miley's musical talents, she is a true representation of being true to who you are.  Miley wanted her album to be as different as she had become and the music world and wanted her music to evolve with her new image.  Each song on the album can be meant for absolutely anyone.  The album clusters up a bunch of different genres but they still work cohesively. There are some ballads and some excellent pop-dance songs. I would rate the album four out of five stars because I am personally a fan of the album and feel as though it's a great way for Miley to change her image ans show people her musical talents.

Rolling Stone Album Reviews

Those Darlins

Blur the Line Oh Wow Dang
7
The third Those Darlins record opens with a drunk shower in a "shit hotel." But it doesn't stay clean for long: "Flowing these juices/The weed has induced us," Jessi Darlin sings a couple of songs later on "That Man." Since starting out as trashy, fun-loving cowpunks, the twogirl/two-guy Murfreesboro, Tennessee, band has gone further toward gnarled garage rock with each album.

Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne Epic
Assisted on nearly every track by new husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, Avril Lavigne starts her fifth LP shouting out her own rocker credentials: On "Rock N Roll," all the Auto-Tune in Sweden can't keep her bad reputation from battling "hipster bullshit," and "Here's to Never Growing Up" advocates "singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs" even if Radiohead's fans never would. In "Bad Girl," she and Marilyn Manson get their industrial-glam cartoon kink on.

The Wanted

Word of Mouth Island
4
The Wanted are a boy band with a man's disposition: They drink, they get into arguments, and they tend to see women as passive creatures waiting around in heels to be redeemed or get their hearts broken. They cloak their casual misogyny in trying to look sensitive, alternating rakish club pop like "Walks Like Rihanna" with post-Coldplay ballads in which everyone gets a chance to brood.

Lady Gaga

Artpop Streamline/Interscope
6
Lady Gaga is at her peak when she's playing the neon queen of all the world's outcasts. And with her constant prodding, her Little Monsters have filled the biggest big tent in modern pop. But in the five years since Stefani Germanotta's arrival, weird has become the currency that overwhelmingly fuels pop culture – from seapunk Tumblrs to American Horror Story. So for Gaga to stay on top in 2013, she has to keep cranking up the cray.

The Beatles

On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2 Apple/Capitol
8
This was social media in Great Britain in 1963, during the first flash flood of Beatlemania: George Harrison singing "Do You Want to Know a Secret" for Deanne and Jenny in Bedford; Paul McCartney belting "The Hippy Hippy Shake" for a student at the bassist's old grammar school in Liverpool; Ringo Starr stumbling over names on a request card from Yorkshire.

M.I.A.

Matangi Interscope
7
If Maya Arulpragasam has a persecution complex, she's earned it. "Let you into Super Bowl/You tried to steal Madonna's crown/What the fuck you on about?" she spits on "Boom Skit," conjuring her haters: generic racists, critical magazine profilers, and the NFL litigators reportedly suing her for $1.5 mil for her bird-flip during her 2012 halftime performance with Madonna.

Keenan- A water tower in Virginia fell on a surrounding house, killing one person, and injuring two. The house was demolished instantly, and water flooded the streets.

Alexa- Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau was on the cover of French Vogue in 2011. Wearing gold, stilettoes, and heavy make-up, Blondeau is sprawled out on leopard printed bed covers, which is a typical photo shoot for vogue; however this young lady happens to just be ten years old. Parent groups and other concerned French citizens express their dismay of these photos of the young girl being taken because some of them have her topless chest covered with her long hair and large beaded jewelry.

Lauren- News anchor Kyra Philips caught on the john. Kyra accidentally forgot to turn her microphone off and was talking “potty talk” while in the bathroom. After the potty talk ended she proceeded to call her sister-in-law a control freak. Due to the microphone being on, this was all on air for everyone to hear.

Lizzie- A family living in Dunedin, Florida notices a screened in room fell into a hole. A sinkhole has formed on an early morning. About 70 feet wide and 50 feet deep and growing. If it rains the hole may get worse.  Seven homes in all were evacuated.  Hole will be filled in soon but not all families may return to their home.
